Summer Fun!

We have been busy filling up the days of Summer and marveling at how quickly they are passing by - it's hard to believe July 4th is over. We have had some good trips already this Summer and are currently winding down our vacation at Nana & Papa's in Hilton Head (it's HOT!)

Summer is all about amusement parks, splashing in the pool and road trips and Jack has been working it all in. We have had several trips to Kings Island which he loves including a day dodging the cicadas while Ashley and the girls were visiting. Abbie took Jack on the Whip and made sure to hold him close so he wouldn't get scared. He loved it and as always took his turn on the cars, choo choo train and helicopters too. He also got to take his first taste of blue ice cream - a KI favorite which Mommy was just recently introduced to if you can believe it - with sprinkles of course!

Jack also took a road trip to Nashville with his buddies Ian (9mos) and Alayna (7 weeks) - it was brave of us all to set out together but it turned out great and the kids were on their best behavior (we can't say that was entirely true for the Daddies, but oh well). Jack and his friends had a great time watching their Dads run the RC Moon Pie 10 Miler in Bell Buckle, TN (who wouldn't have fun in a place called Bell Buckle!) and then had fun at the party at Uncle Billy's place. We also got to visit Carissa while we were there which was a great bonus to the trip. While we were there we re-introduced Jack to the big swimming pool which he hadn't seen since Hawaii and his first reunion turned out to not be that happy - he screamed the entire time, but after the second trip in he warmed up to it again and soon was jumping off the side into Mommy's arms so we knew we'd be in good shape for Hilton Head.

Speaking of HH - we headed here on 7/2 just in time to celebrate the 4th with Nanny, Papa and Dereck. Jack has been having a ball in the ocean and the pool but the biggest highlight of all is the golf cart - when he gets to drive it and climb on it and work the turn signal - Nirvana! Jack saw his first alligator with Papa and Daddy the other night and we went back out tonight and saw some babies eating their supper (from a disance cause I'm sure Momma Gator was watching us!). Jack wasn't sure about the fireworks on the 4th when he could hear them on the balcony at Aunt Carole's condo, but once we took him inside and he could watch the "lights" without the noise, he loved them and was sad like all of us when they were over. We'll be here for a couple more days and will probably head to the beach again tomorrow with the girls and Aunt Ashley - that will be fun. He loves the ocean and is not afraid at all, which I'm not sure is good or bad.

When we get back home we'll try and get to swim and eat popsicles and catch lightening bugs as much as we can before this Summer is over, which we all know will be sooner than we can believe. We hope everyone is having as much fun as we are - I have to say as with everything Summer has taken on a whole new level of fun when we see it through Jack's eyes.
