Here We Go

Ok - my first post in what hopefully will become a living journal of all those daily happenings that amaze Moms and Dads about their kids. You know, all those things that convince you that your child's a gifted genius who is going to accomplish great things like cure cancer or become the next Michael Jordan or both simultaneously. Yes, Jack's really that special!

This is true despite the fact that he continues to insist that our dog is a cat. He recently learned the word "cat" when we were visiting his grandparents in SC (they have a cat) and has now adopted that word whenever he sees a real cat or our black pug, Putter. But you see, it's not that he doesn't know that Putter's a dog - it's that he knows she's a dog but has figured out that we think it's funny when he calls her a cat so he continues to deliver the joke - ok so maybe instead of Michael Jordon he'll be the next David Letterman - either way looks like a decent retirement plan for Mom & Dad so who's arguing!

Some other favorite words he's using these days in the midst of his constant jabber are: light (pronounced with two syllables - "li-eet"), truck, lion, Da Da and Jack.

The last couple of days Jack has been a little under the weather. He woke up with a temperature of 103 the other morning and apparently had a touch of a virus given as a gift from our babysitter's little girl. Despite our efforts to keep them apart until she was well, the bug bit him. So, he's been a little less talkative and a little more clingy than usual. (Is it a sign that I'm a bad Mom if I enjoyed the extra cuddling just a little bit even though I knew it was b/c he was feeling bad??)

Today we go to the Dr. for his 12 month check up so I'm anxious to find out his newest stats. He'll also get those awful shots so that should be a lot of fun. Here's hoping for the best!
