Who Needs Oprah's Book Club - Jack's Got His Own List

You know how you're supposed to put earphones on your belly when you're pregnant to expose your little munchkin to the classics as well as read to the baby before they are born to ensure their entry into the Ivy League school of their choice - yeah, well I didn't do that. Frankly, I was too busy reading to myself all the books that were supposed to prepare me for my new job as Mom (which by the way no book can prepare you for).

I am happy to report that even though I supposedly put Jack at a major disadvantage - he LOVES to read. Now, I will say that since he's been born I have been making up for the lack of prenatal reading by exposing him to all of the books in his library everyday. We now read at least 3 at bedtime (which he now chooses himself) and he can often be found in his room or by his basket in the family room surrounded by his favorite books "reading" away.

He was especially into his books today and snuggled with Mommy several times when he wanted to hear one of his favorites (bonus benefit of the reading is extended time with usually squirmy child on lap!). He definitely has his all time favorites and as a result I can recite most of the Sandra Boynton books - she has emerged as his favorite author for sure.

So, check out Jack's Top Ten List in the sidebar for his favorite titles to date. I am so happy that he seems to love his books. I hope this continues as he grows and he learns to love reading like I do. So here's to snuggling up with your favorite book - and your favorite toddler!
